Walking Holidays Engelberg

Spend your walking holidays in Switzerland: The village of Engelberg is situated at 1080m at the end of a valley surrounded by lush green meadows and impressive snow-capped peaks such as the Titils. The resort is well-known as a Mecca for alpine sports enthusiasts with marked hiking and walking trails, mountain bike and Nordic walking trails but also offering climbing, abseiling, paragliding, glacier walking and much more. The newest craze is Via Ferrata – the name for high level footpaths secured by steel cables and assisted by steel ladders and hanging bridges to overcome sheer rock faces or difficult sections. If you have never tried it – this might be the first time!? The walking and hiking trails vary from easy to difficult/strenuous. A gentle walk is along the valley towards the waterfall which takes around 2 hours. A more strenuous hike it the ridge tour from Engelberg to Fürenalp and back down to Engelberg which takes around 7hours and covers an altitude difference of 800m.
